DALITEK Wireless Charger
As a fan of Stargate SG-1, I jumped at the opportunity to design a Stargate-inspired product when DALITEK asked me to create a unique wireless phone charger for use as a corporate gift at press conferences, tradeshows, and other promotional events.
The charger gives the illusion that the phone is levitating within a ring, with the ring enhancing the suspended, midair effect. In addition to charging the phone, this device also functions as a wireless Bluetooth speaker. The “levitation” effect is achieved through a thin post beneath the phone that supports the charging pad. By precisely adjusting the post’s height, the phone’s body conceals it from view.
Flick the knife switch to bring your Frankenstein or your smartphone back to life. Just a spontaneous, funny idea that never fails to get a laugh.
The charger/Bluetooth speaker takes the shape of a wide cone resting on its side, with speaker cloth covering its flat base which provides a comfortable, secure cradle for the phone, while an added weight at the base ensures stability.
